Last year I started a project that was really intimidating. I decided to ask other photographers who I greatly admire to move from behind their camera to in front of my camera for an hour or two. My goal in doing this project was to push myself out of my comfort zone, to experiment and to do it with subjects that I normally wouldn’t work with.
So far it has been amazing! I have had the opportunity with several photographers who have built successful businesses in an extremely competitive market and have done so by photographing weddings, families, newborns and boudoir. Not only are they leaders in the industry but they are all very down to earth and willing to teach and share what they have learned through their many years of hard work.
Michelle Newell is an amazing wedding, maternity and newborn photographer as well as the writer of the The Art of Newborn Photography. To say it was a little bit intimidating to ask her to spend some time in front of my camera would be a huge understatement.
Thank you so much for taking the time to hang out with us Michelle! It was awesome getting to know you better! All photos taken with a Hasselblad 500cm and Carl Zeiss 80mm f/2.8 on Ilford Delta 3200 and Kodak Portra 400. Scans were done by Film Box Lab.
